Ngā Taonga Mai Tawhiti
Ngā Taonga Mai Tawhiti
“Ko te Whare Karioi, he taonga mai i ngā Tipuna, he taonga mai tawhiti”
I whānau mai a Ngā Taonga mai Tawhiti i te tau 2006 i runga i ngā wawata o ngā pouako a Wiremu Wehi rāua ko tana hoa wahine a Merlene Maxwell-Wehi. Ko te tira nei e muramura mai ana i ngā āhuatanga o tēnā iwi, o tēnā iwi otirā o ngā mātāwaka hurinoa i te motu.
E tau ana ngā waewae i Te Awakairangi. E hoe ana a Ngā Taonga mai Tawhiti i runga i ngā tikanga o nehe.
This pan-tribal movement consists of a colourful membership that encapsulates the beautiful inclusion of different iwi affiliations throughout Aotearoa. Based in Te Awa Kairangi, Ngā Taonga mai Tawhiti has built its foundations on a holistic trilogy that summarizes the oldest Māori principle “whanaungatanga” and its added values of kōtahitanga (unity) and manaakitanga (nurturing). Using kapa haka as the medium to engage, this cultural playground offers a safe nurturing environment for Maori residing in the city to be a part of a movement that encourages personal growth and development through engaging in the fruits of knowledge belonging to that of our ancestors.
